Sustainable Irrigation Project

The Sustainable Irrigation Project is a grant from the National Fisheries and Wildlife Fund (NFWF) for a fifty/fifty cost share program to fund Total Farm Water Use Management Plans and construction of wells and ponds to reduce the number of sites on Atlantic salmon rivers and streams where water is being withdrawn for irrigation. There are about twenty growers who have signed up and are in various stages of completing their water use plans and getting ready to deveop water sources and construct water storages.
